As part of a commemorative project devoted to Princess Nhu May of Annam, who lived at Losse from 1930 to 1999, we are reaching out to all those who knew or encountered her.
As a reminder, Princess Nhu May was the daughter of Emperor Nghi of Annam, who reigned from 1884 to 1885 over the province of Annam in what is now central Vietnam.
She became the owner of the Château de Losse in 1930 and transformed it into an agricultural estate, where she raised Limousin cattle and cultivated wheat.
Widely recognized for her commitment and pioneering experiments with new farming methods and mechanization tools in the Périgord, she was awarded the title of Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur and made Officer of the Order of Agricultural Merit.
Upon retiring, she passed on the property to her nephew and moved into a small house next to the château, where she lived until her death in 1999. She was laid to rest in the cemetery of Thonac, alongside her parents and brother.
Our projet
Through this initiative, we hope to preserve and share her story, her life's work, and her commitment to the Périgord. For many years now, stories about her have circulated informally. Today, we aim to gather them so that they may be documented and passed on.
